Sinopsis:

Drama ini diangkat dari sebuah novel karya Lee Jeong Myeong dengan judul yang sama “Tree with Deep Roots”, bercerita mengenai penyelidikan terhadap kasus pembunuhan berantai terhadap para sarjana yang bekerja untuk raja dalam menyelesaikan sebuah misi. Misi yang dimaksud yaitu penciptaan huruf Hangul, hal ini dikarenakan keinginan Raja Sejong agar seluruh rakyatnya dapat membaca karena pada saat itu huruf yang dipakai yaitu menggunakan karakter cina yang sulit untuk dipelajari.

Untuk menyelidiki kasus tersebut maka Raja Sejong menunjuk seorang pengawal kerajaan biasa namun memiliki kemampuan penyelidikan dan bela diri yang tidak biasa yaitu Kang Chae Yoon. Namun yang tidak diketahui oleh Raja Sejong ternyata Kang Chae Yoon memiliki misi tersendiri yaitu memiliki keinginan untuk membunuh Raja Sejong karena ia beranggapan Raja Sejong merupakan penyebab kematian ayahnya.

Selain dibantu oleh para sarjana, Raja Sejong juga dibantu oleh seorang dayang yang memiliki kemampuan mengingat yang sangat luar biasa yaitu So Yi. So Yi sendiri merupakan teman masa kecil Kang Chae Yoon namun karena suatu kejadian mereka terpisah dan So Yi kecil dibawa ratu ke dalam istana.

Akankah pelaku pembunuhan berantai tertangkap dan misteri yang menyelubunginya terungkap? Dan apakah keinginan Raja Sejong untuk membuat rakyatnya bisa membaca dapat terwujud?

Komentar:

Biasanya aku menghindari drama saeguk, cuma ada beberapa drama saeguk yang aku tonton (Gu Family Book, Arang and The Magister, Hong Gil Dong, dan The Queen of Seondok). Kenapa aku menonton drama ini? Tentu saja alasan utamanya karena Jang Hyuk ahjussi maen di drama ini^^, selain itu setelah baca beberapa riview di internet banyak yang bilang bagus (malah dinobatkan sebagai drama terbaik tahun 2011 hal ini dibuktikan dengan banyaknya drama ini menyabet penghargaan^^) dan setelah nonton beberapa episode, ternyata seru juga bikin penasaran di tiap episode.

Hal-hal yang menarik di drama ini, antara lain adanya penyelidikan kasus pembunuhan berantai ala Sherlock Holmes versi zaman Joseon  yang dilakukan oleh pengawal istana yang tidak biasa Kang Chae Yoon, kita juga diperkenalkan mengenai sejarah penciptaan huruf Hangeul oleh Raja Sejong, akting tiap pemain yang sangat total serta jalan cerita yang sangat menarik, dan yang utama di drama Saeguk yaitu adegan berkelahinya apalagi pas Kang Chae Yoon sedang menujukkan aksi beladirinya yang disebut Chulsangsool (wah keren banget, Jang Hyuk ahjussi emang daebak^^). Dengan keunggulan-keunggulan ini, aku sangat rekomendasikan drama ini untuk ditonton.
